Cyndi Lauper

Cyndi-Lauper-&-Blondie_Frontier_928x400[2]If you were a child of the 70s or 80s then Heart of Glass and True Colours are two familiar anthems you most likely can recite every word to.

And this Easter, you can hear these and other anthems of your youth by Blondie and Cyndi Lauper, who are teaming up to play concerts in both Christchurch and Auckland.

Cyndi Lauper and Blondie have both enjoyed great success here for four decades, fuelled by a stream of timeless hits that are still popular today. Both Cyndi and Debbie Harry have always escaped the usual clich├ęs of women in rock and are unquestionably two of the most important and influential women to have graced the stage. The two New York natives are thrilled to be touring together.

“The bitches are coming back to make it happen – all the songs and music you want to hear from us and much, much more,” says Debbie Harry of Blondie.

“Blondie were the true trailblazers of the New York City new wave and punk scenes. As a young artist, they had such a big impact on me,” adds Lauper.

“I just thought that Debbie was so cool. She is still a hero of mine. We are going to have a blast.”

Cyndi Lauper and Blondie play Christchurch’s Horncastle Arena on April 15 and Auckland’s Vector Arena on April 17.

Tickets go on sale on January 31.

I bet this takes you back to watching RTR Countdown at 6pm on Saturday nights!
